Before Mass
1. The keys to the Daley Centre are in the Sacristy
2. The candle maybe in the Daley Centre but should be in the cupboard (with the Lectionary) in the Sacristy
3. Place candle lit on the altar (light it in the room behind the altar and bring it lit to the altar) and Lectionary on the shelf in
Lectern on the Altar
4. Make sure Father knows before the Mass that children’s liturgy is on
5. You can go around to children prior to the Mass and let them know that today is children’s liturgy and where it is held
6. Choose a child to take the Lectionary to Process in with the Word
7. Two children are needed to carry the candle and the Lectionary
8. Process with the children to the Daley Centre
9. You can either set up prior to Mass or set up with the children
Starting the Liturgy
1. Start the liturgy of the Word with the Sign of the Cross
2. Opening prayer can be to Jesus, Almighty God, Our Father, Loving Lord, Heavenly King, Almighty Father,
Prince of Peace, Heavenly Father
3. Body:- we ask you bless this heavenly/sacred space, come into our hearts, open our ears, help us to see.... ( a thanks,
praise or request)
4. Conclusion:- we ask through Christ our Lord
5. Amen
Proclamation of the word:- a child who is confident
Homily:- Pose 3 or 4 questions to generate discussion and get the children to see/hear/feel some links that this has with their life.
Get children to tell the story back to you by using prompts.
The outcome is get children to think/actively participate in the Word
Prayers of intercession
Start the children off with this by placing a meaningful prayer/request based on the needs of the wider world, others and themselves. “Lord hear us”
